New to the AFD Family as of July 2015, Stephanie is honored to be a part of the Peer Support Team.  She came from Indiana where dispatched both police and fire/EMS.  Stephanie grew up in a firefighting family and knows the strains the spouse and children experience.

 

She was married for five years to a deputy sheriff who experienced PTSD from serving in Iraq.  She witnessed the result of his traumas in the army and on the street that caused alcoholism and verbal abuse.

 

In the experiences growing up in, marrying to, and now serving in the public safety field, Stephanie has developed a high level of compassion and empathy for what we face every day.  After losing public safety coworkers to suicide, Stephanie is determined to be the listening ear and the helping hand to anyone who is struggling with the unique challenges we face.
