Shannon Major has been a support staff volunteer for the Valdez Fire Department since 2008.  She has been part of the fire family through her husband, Justin, since 2002.  Having a role on both sides, the fire service and the fire family, allows her to see dual perspectives when dealing with some of the strains emergency services can place on both responders and their families.  She is currently working towards her Masters in Social Work.  Trained in Crisis Intervention Stress Management, she wants to help first responders and their families be as mentally healthy as possible to manage the stressors of this profession.
