My name is Meghan McClain. 27 years old, born and raised in Anchorage. I’ve been with AFD since March 2015, I volunteered with Girdwood Fire Department for 5 years prior to that. I’m currently stationed Downtown at Station 1 as a Fire Fighter.

I graduated from South Anchorage High School and UAA with an Associate’s degree in Fire and Emergency Services. In my off time I play hockey and soccer, race motocross, mountain bike, hike and enjoy rock climbing.

I’ve had my share of injuries and recovery periods, all involving different challenges. Through the years I’ve watched and helped some friends and close family struggle through depression and substance abuse. Peer support has been a helpful avenue for me and others that I have helped in the past
