Mrs. Bolin earned a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Montana State University. Her first employment in Alaska was teaching Community Health Aides in bush villages. She then accepted a position as Associate Professor with the University of Alaska, Anchorage, School of Nursing where she taught for seven years. While still on the faculty of UAA, Mary began to study a theory of caring authored by M. Lucille Kinlein. This study resulted in being a part of the founding of a new profession, the Profession of Kinlein (kinlein.org or kinleinanchorage.com) and entering a new career field. Mrs. Bolin has now been in private practice as a kinleiner for over 30 years, assisting individuals, couples and families as they deal with what life brings. As an extension of her practice she has taught classes for the public on a variety of topics including communication, organizational integrity, and family relationships using the kinlein theory as a framework. She is at present on the faculty of the Institute of Kinlein and co-authored the book, A New View of Being Human, (Dog Ear Publishing, Indianapolis, IN, 2012), and is currently writing a Textbook of the Practice of Kinlein. Mrs Bolin is married and with her husband has led short term mission trips to Guatemala over the past two decades.
